Vol. V, Issue 3
January 26, 2015
PETPLAN'S VETERINARIAN OF THE YEAR
Congratulations to Dr. Tracey Jensen with the Wellington Veterinary Clinic in Wellington, Colorado. Dr. Jensen was nominated by her peers and clients. Finalists were selected by an independent judging panel of North America's "most tail-ented" veterinary professionals.

Winners received a $1000 cash prize, a $1000 donation to a pet-focused charity of their choice and prizes from Dog is Good, Tagg - The Pet Tracker, Furlocity.com, k9 FitClub, PetHub and more. You can read more here.
NEW PERFORMANCE PEDIGREES - UPDATED LINK
Retriever Results now includes data on more than 50,000 dogs that compete in AKC Field Trials and Hunting Tests.

Having all that data means you can now use Retriever Results to view performance and now pedigrees. Plus, Retriever Results pedigrees have been enhanced to include performance information. Now you can see the number of points or passes for each generation. (Hunt Tests data from mid-2009 and nearly 15 years from Field Trials.)
Retriever Results Performance PedigreesFT Data 1999-present, HT data mid 2009-Present

The dog profile information is organized into:
  • Scorecard: sire, dam, owner trainer, summary of performance stats and achievements, plus links to OFA information
  • Performance Summary: Wins, placements, points, and starts
  • Performance Detail: Event-by-event results
  • Progeny: breeding partners & offspring with FT & HT finishes
  • Performance Pedigree: points & passes for parents, grand-parents
EMAIL DISPLAY ISSUES
You may not be able to see everything we include in Retriever Results newsletters. For example, if you're not seeing images, here's how to fix the issue:
Email
Resolution

Click preferences>viewing. Make sure there is a check mark next to "Display remote images in email." Click Save.

Click gear icon in top right corner of page. Select Settings>General Click "always display external images" button. Click Save.

Open email, click "Show content" at top of email. Click "show content."

Open email. At bottom of email click "Show HTML Graphics"

You may also consider using a different email address for your Retriever Results. To update your profile use the link at the bottom of this newsletter.

CALENDARS
If you're running events and dealing with dogs you spend a great deal of time looking at a calendar. Here are a few to have on hand. These links are also in the left column of the newsletter.
GORILLA GLUE ET AL
Many of us rely on Gorilla Glue to hold all type of things together. It's tough, it can get wet and it's easy to use. It also includes an ingredient that, when ingested by your dog, can mean a very expensive trip to the vet. So if you have some, be sure it's safely stowed.

Tip of the hat to Albany Animal Hospital for posting this alert.
AKC NEWSLETTERS
The AKC produces a number of
communications you may find useful. You can sign up for some or all of them here.

  • Your AKC: a monthly publication covering all aspects of dog ownership and AKC news
  • AKC Breeder: Educational articles for the purebred dog breeder
  • Family Dog Digital Edition: AKC's official magazine for all things canine
  • In Session: A Quarterly newsletter for lawmakers, providing information on pending legislative issues and upcoming AKC club programs
  • AKC Weekly Winners Gallery: Weekly email updates with photos and award information from events around the country

AKC CHF UPDATE
In 2014, AKC Canine Health Foundation raised more than $500,000 meeting the AKC Matching Challenge. As a result more than $1 million will go toward canine health research.

You can support AKC's CHF in a couple of ways. Either by donating directly or by making a contribution as part of entering a Field Trial or Hunt Test on Entry Express.
